Decorative Vinyl Tray

Hello, Friends!  Marilyn here with a tutorial on using vinyl to create a decorative tray.  My tip:  Measure Twice, Cut Once... not original but definitely applies when cutting vinyl.

Here is what I used:
  • Vinyl - silver vinyl.  I ordered this through eBay.
  • Transfer Tape.
  • Tray - black wooden tray I found on sale at Michaels two years ago.
  • Cricut Cartridge - Songbird.

  • First step is to measure the tray and determine what size font will fit.

Cricut Craft Room software
  • In the Cricut Craft Room (CCR), I selected the font text from Songbird Cricut Cartridge.  I changed the Letter Spacing to -22 in order to weld the letters together.  I then made the length 9.9".
  • Next, I cut the font text out using card stock to make sure I was happy with the size.

  • Once satisfied with the sizing, I cut the font text using vinyl.
  • Settings for cutting vinyl:  blade 3, speed low, pressure medium

  • Weed and remove all the negative cuts.

  • Place transfer tape over the weeded vinyl.  Rub with the tool provided in the vinyl to make sure everything is attached.

  • Remove from Cricut mat and place vinyl onto the tray using the transfer tape.  Rub well with the tool provided.

  • Remove the transfer tape.  Pulling at an angle is the easiest method.

  • And there you go.

  • Angels always makes my name look nicer.

Thank you for joining me today.  I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.  As always, comments are welcomed and appreciated!

Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace - how sweet the sound!

Home decor art work created using New Testament Cricut cartridge, Songbird Cricut cartridge and Industrial Glow Imagine.  Photo frame is 8x10 inches.

Cross is found on page 27 of the New Testament handbook (cut at 7.5 inches).  Colors for cross come from Industrial Glow Imagine cartridge. There are 3 drops of "blood" on the cross created using a red Viva Decor pen.

I've added a Brown Scapular that falls to either side of the cross.  Image on left is our Blessed Mother giving the brown scapular to St. Simon Stock.   Image on right reads "Whosoever dies wearing this Scapular shall not suffer eternal fire.  Our Lady's Scapular Promise."   Read more about the Brown Scapular.

Background paper is from K&Company 'SW Spring Blossom Designer Paper Pad.'

The "Amazing Grace" text was cut from vinyl using the Songbird Cricut cartridge font (1.3 inches).   Vinyl is on outside of glass.

Also on outside of glass are 3 butterflies punched from Martha Stewart punch and using the reversed side of the same background paper.   Butterflies are highlighted using Liquid Pearls.

Picture This - Baby Gift

How adorable - how unique - how easy and inexpensive can this be!

Honestly, it didn't take me 15 minutes to pull this baby shower gift together.   Genevieve's mother-to-be will love it.

I purchased the photo frame at Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon.   I believe I ended up paying less than $10 for it.   Also at Hobby Lobby I picked up a pretty sheet of paper to use for the background.

Back at home, I cut out the Girl and Bird image using white cardstock.   The image and pink shadow were both cut using A Child's Year Cricut cartridge (6.25").   I ran the white cut thru my Cuttlebug using the Swiss Dots folder.   Image was then glued to front of the background paper (that had been cut to 8" x 10").

Inset into photo frame.

Next I went to the Cricut Craftroom (free application) and created a welded font text of "Genevieve" that I cut out in white vinyl.   Text was sized to be 6" long and created using the Songbird Cricut cartridge.   A simple application of the vinyl to the front of the glass using Transfer Tape and I can call it done!

** Update **

I decided that I wanted make a more 3D effect to this project.

Using some leftover background paper, I cut out one of the yellow butterflies and glued some light yellow twine outlining the wings.

I also apply some Tacky Glue to rest of wings and sprinkled on glitter.

I attached to butterfly to outside of glass using Glossy Accents.   Also, applied Glossy Accents to pink center of butterfly.

I like the 3D look.

Monogram Coasters

Aren't these pretty?   I created these coasters as a Christmas gift for my brother.   They came out so well, I may make more for myself.

Here's how they are made:

Supplies
1.  Glass tiles bought at Home Depot. (four tiles)
2.  Glass etching cream (available at craft stores)
3.  Cricut cartridge Songbird to create stensils.
4.  Cork self-stick roll bought at craft store.
5.  Vinyl

Instructions:
Cut designs from Songbird onto vinyl.   Place vinyl on glass tiles and cover top of tile with etching cream.   I waited for 45 minutes then washed cream off in the sink under running water.   Cut cork and stick to back of tiles.
