DIY - Graduation Mugs - Glass Etching

DIY Gift - keepsake mugs made from dollar store purchase.

These are 15 mugs purchased from the Dollar Store.   First step is to wash and remove all gummy price stickers.

Next, create a stencil for glass etching using vinyl.  We cut our "Class of 2012" using Cricut Songbird cartridge.   Letters were welded together on the Cricut Craftroom web site.

We added a thick coat of Armour Etch - Glass Etching Cream.   The label on the bottle says to remove in 10 minutes, but I have much better results waiting 30 minutes.

30 minutes later, the etching cream is washed off under the sink with running water.

Beautiful results.  After etching all 15 mugs, we decided to add Viva Decor Pearl Pens "dots".  The dots were done in the students' school colors (five different high schools!).

I think these will make a great graduation gift.  Here's to you Class of 2012!
